Project Updates Safety Cone

Speed Feedback Signs  on Garden View Road

The City of Encinitas has installed speed feedback signs on Garden View Road west of Via Cantebria as part of ongoing traffic calming efforts to improve roadway safety and encourage drivers to reduce speeds. Drivers are reminded to observe posted speed limits.

Pedestrian Crossing Upgrades Project

Civil improvements have been completed at the Park Dale Lane & Countryhaven/Glen Arbor/Willowspring Dr intersections, along with the intersection of 3rd & B St. These improvements included new ADA curb ramps, high-visibility crosswalks, and the installation of new streetlights. Staff is working with SDGE to schedule the energizing of these new streetlights, with an anticipated completion date of Spring 2026.

Chesterfield Signal Improvements

On February 25, 2026, the City Council approved traffic signal improvements at the intersection of Chesterfield Drive and San Elijo Avenue/Coast Highway 101. The updates add a left-turn signal for northbound San Elijo Avenue drivers heading west over the railroad tracks—providing a green arrow first, followed by a flashing yellow arrow to allow turns after yielding—and a separate signal phase for right turns onto northbound Coast Highway 101 to improve traffic flow.
