Project Background

A microtransit program is an on‑demand or fixed‑route transportation service that uses small vehicles to provide flexible, localized mobility within a limited geographic area. The City’s Microtransit Study aims to assess existing conditions and identify what microtransit systems may be best suited for Encinitas with a focus on reducing overall vehicle trips and greenhouse gas emissions.

The goal of the study is to identify the ideal microtransit system that would complement existing regional transit and enable convenient local travel in and around Encinitas, serving residents, workers, and visitors alike.

The implementation of a microtransit system in Encinitas could reduce traffic congestion, increase connections to the COASTER Station, and increase transportation options across the City.
